The picture is actually part of a larger storyboard. The plot is quite simple: A family moves from the big city into a small country town. The teenage daughter, lets call her Charlotte, looses all her friends and is not amused. She's even less amused when she finds out that her new country schoolmates and their parents do not appreciate her punk/goth outfit she brought along from the big city.

That is the conflict which gets the story rolling. After two weeks Charlotte finally finds a quiet place for her own: The city library. To her suprise the old books and newspapers stacked there tell her that the town has a hundred year old dirty secret buried on the graveyard.

Although dead, he kind of becomes her new friend. The cemetery is an as deserted place as the library and has the advantage of fresh air. And when the town live adds to her frustration, she sats down on the grave of Wilbur Collins who was in his own times killed by a raging mob when he insisted to be in love with the wrong girl. So she thought the books told.

And by this she awakens Wilbur. One moon lit night he crawls from his grave and hides in church to gain his strength. On next the sunday people observe the foul stench of decay but do not know what to make of it or where it comes from. Charlotte feels someone is watching her.

After some days of terror and a panic flight at another night Charlotte finally discovers that the living dead is her friend which opens the opportunity to play a lot of pranks with the town people who made Charlottes live unnessecarly hard. Because you can't kill Wilbur as he is already dead.

The pranks they make of are targeted at the non liberal narrow-minded ones and to their supprise they find out that there are also a lot of urbane liberal people arround they have not noticed before.

The other supprise is that she discovers her parents to be narrow-minded also. A new front emerged. After quarals and fights her escape is to marry Wilbur, the corpse with the stench, and when leaving the church as man and woman, they leave an disgusted crowd behind.
