A non-linear video-, audio- and midi editor midi recorder...
...under construction.
About
Named after the birthplace of a world-renowned artist and pioneer of digital movie production, Modesto is becoming a non-linear video-, audio- and MIDI editor, which lets you concentrate on your ideas, by restricting itself to a minimal set of features while
leaving room for experiments. (In case this software doesn't fullfill this promise, it does so to it's author at least.)
Modesto is published under the terms of the GNU General Public License and comes with full source code. (Which comes in handy for people who can't play on a piano but on a computer like myself.)

A screenshot of Modesto. It looks quite ugly, which adds glamour to the media you create.
(My! What a bad excuse...)
Software
In the current version Modesto is able to record and play MIDI tracks with my Yamaha TG 100 and Yamaha DX7 synthesizers. The next step will be to support audio recording and playback. (Well I've bought a copy of Apple's Logic Express 7, so I'm in hurry to get this done...)
- A GNU/Linux operating system with the X11 Windows system
- The Modesto sources from the CVS at SourceForge.net
-
The TOAD C++ GUI Library from
CVS at GNU Savannah and other stuff mentioned at the projects
download page. - libraw1394 and libdv
- Knowledge on how to compile install all these components.
